Principal's Message

Greetings Pointer Students and Families,

The end of Marking Period 2 for the 2025-26 school year was January 16, 2026. Report cards will be distributed on January 29, 2026. This is an excellent time to evaluate areas of academic strength and growth, as well as any academic support that may be beneficial as we embark on second semester. It is important that students, who did not meet with academic success during the first semester, work closely with their school counselor to discuss educational options designed to keep them on track for graduation.

As I mentioned before, one of the metrics we consistently monitor is attendance. I am happy to report that we are holding strong and have shown a .1% increase from the same point in time last year, and our chronic absentee rate decreased by .48% from the same point in time last year. Please continue to speak with your student regarding the importance of attending school as we know there is a strong correlation between attendance and academic performance.

As we prepare to begin a new marking period, all students and families are reminded of the following information, in support of academic achievement and ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students:

Students should monitor their academic progress daily by logging into Schoology, checking their grades, assignment completion, and for messages from their teachers.

As a reminder, SPHS is strictly enforcing the BCPS Cell Phone Policy.  Please remind your student of the importance of following this and all expectations. The faculty and staff at Sparrows Point High School are here to support your student, and we welcome any opportunity to partner with you and your child in their success.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Sparrows Point High School. I look forward to our continued partnership throughout the 2025-26 school year.
