Principal's Message

Greetings Pointer Students and Families, 

I’m excited to welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year; it’s going to be an outstanding year at Sparrows Point High School! Our focus this year will continue to be “The Pointer Way,” supporting our students in learning the practices that will be demanded of them in the post-secondary world, and raising the bar of learning and expectations, both academically and behaviorally. Our goal is to have every student graduate from high school prepared for the demands of post-secondary education, meaningful careers and effective citizenship. Our goal is to continue to create a school atmosphere where students want to learn, staff want to work, and parents are proud to send their children.

The first day of school is Monday, August 31st. Please note that there is a change in the bell schedule and the school day now begins at 7:35 am and ends at 2:20pm. 

All students and families are asked to read the SPHS Student & Parent Guide before the start of the school year. This guide contains information about our school routines and procedures: Student Parent Guide - Sparrows Point High (bcps.org) 

Grade 9 Early Entry Day: Thursday, August 27th, 7:35-11:05 am. Welcome, Class of 2030! Students will ride their regular bus to and from SPHS and participate in activities to orient them to high school. 

Save the Date! Back to School Night will be on Thursday, August 27th from 5:30-7:00 pm. All students and families are invited to join us for the opening session at 5:30 pm in the auditorium, followed by classroom visits. We hope to see you there!
